19th century Russian icon The Meeting of the Lord. Mstera rigen. Egg tempera on gesso, on gold leaf on wood panel. The background and border decorated with engraved stylized patterns emulating the metal oklad. Fine and detailed painting, in very good condition. Some loss of gold cover. Board very slightly bowed. Two slats (shponki) in the back (both missing).
