19th Century ICON OF THE MOTHER OF GOD OF TIKHVIN WITH A SILVER-GILT AND CLOISONNE ENAMEL OKLAD, Russian, Moscow, Semen Galkin, 1896-1908 (oklad) Oil on wood panel with velvet backing. Portrayed realistically in warm tones; the silver gilt oklad with a tooled background and chased border of scrolling leaf and pomegranate design, the halo with polychrome cloisonne enamel, the name plaque in blue champleve enamel. Marked with assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark 'SG' in Cyrillic. Minimally restored.
