A RUSSIAN ICON THE ANNUNCIATION. Two selected saints on the borders: Saint Dimitry and Saint Catherine.

1st half 19th century, Kostroma. Egg tempera, gesso on wood panel with kovcheg. Two splits on the back. Overlaid with a richly chased and embossed silver-gilt riza. Marked with city hallmark Kostroma 1843, 84 standard, silver smith marks I.R (Iordan Runov 1843) Cyrillic and master's mark 'NM' in Cyrillic. Cover weight 652 gm.

Condition: Icon has partially restored. Cover in excellent condition.
